Terms of Service

Last updated:

These terms are an agreement between you and the operators of Guess the District ("we", "us"). By playing or creating an account, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who runs the service

Guess the District is run by its three co-founders, Ansh Raj Suryavanshi, Aaditya Ahuja and Aaradhya Gupta, of B/30, Samdariya Residency, MR4 Road, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 482001. They are individuals, not a company. Email: guessthedistrict@gmail.com. Phone: +91 9425866720.

Who can play

Anyone can play. If you are under 18, you may use Guess the District only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms for you and is responsible for your use. When our parental consent flow is ready (see the Privacy Policy), a parent's consent will be required for accounts of players under 18. Without it, the account works in a limited mode.

To play inside Discord, you must also meet Discord's minimum age (13, or higher where local law requires it).

Your account

You can play as a guest or sign in with Google or Discord. Keep your Google or Discord account secure: anyone who can use it can use your Guess the District account.

If you sign in with Google and Discord using the same verified email, we treat them as one account. One account per person, please.

Handles and fair play

Your handle is public. It must not:

  • be obscene, sexual, hateful, harassing or defamatory, or insult anyone's religion, caste, ethnicity or gender;
  • impersonate another person or organisation, or mislead people about who you are;
  • infringe anyone's trademark, copyright or other rights;
  • threaten the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its friendly relations with other countries, or public order;
  • promote gambling, harm to children, or anything else that is unlawful.

When you play, do not cheat: no bots or scripts, no automated guessing, no scraping or sharing answers to the daily puzzle before it ends, no exploiting bugs, and no attempts to break, overload or get unauthorised access to the service.

If you break these rules, we may change your handle, remove rounds from rankings, or suspend or close your account. Where we can, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to reconsider through the Contact & Grievances page.

A game for fun, with no stakes

Guess the District is an online social game of knowledge, played for entertainment and learning. There are no stakes, bets or wagers, no cash prizes and no rewards that can be exchanged for money. Points, streaks and achievements have no monetary value and cannot be bought, sold or transferred.

Our content

The clues, design, code and compiled map data belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. The sources and licences are credited on the About and Data & sources pages. You may play and share your results for personal, non-commercial use, but please do not copy the clues or puzzles in bulk.

We research every clue and cite our sources, but mistakes can happen and districts change. The game is not an official or legal source on boundaries or facts. India's external boundaries follow the Survey of India.

Ads (planned)

We plan to show ads from Google AdSense on the website. Ads will be clearly labelled and kept away from the game's controls. We will not show personalised ads to players under 18. There will be no ads inside the Discord Activity.

Other services

Signing in with Google or Discord, playing inside Discord, and paying through Razorpay are also governed by those companies' own terms and privacy policies.

Availability and liability

We work to keep Guess the District running and fair, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, pause or end features, including the daily puzzle, at any time.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop playing at any time, and delete your account from the Me page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be heard by the courts at Delhi, subject to your right to approach a consumer commission.

Changes and grievances

When we change these terms, we update the date at the top of the page and tell you about significant changes in the game. We will remind you of these rules at least once a year. If you keep playing after a change, the new terms apply.

For complaints about the service, content or another player, see the Contact & Grievances page.
